JUNE 07 LOCAL FAMILY TAKES HOME GRAND PRIZE CASSVILLE, MO - Les Jacobs Ford Mercury of Cassville hosted a three-day 10th Anniversay celebration June 28 through June 30th. The celebration highlighted the 10 years the Jacobs family has owned the dealership and included prize drawings, displays from local companies, radio remote broadcasting, vintage and antique cars, free lunch under the tent on Friday, plus a retirement party for longtime employee Paul Mattingly. Nearly 400 people attended Friday's luncheon of burgers, hot dogs, drinks and sides. On display during the three day celebration were several vintage Mustangs, two 1957 T-birds from Springdale, Arkansas, a Model T, and two vintage Ford Fairlanes owned by Les Jacobs. "We are going to miss Paul and his customers' already do," said Les Jacobs, President of Les Jacobs Ford Mercury. "Paul knew how to take care of customers and he did an excellent job as our salesman for trucks and haybeds. Paul was a wonderful employee and someone our customers trusted. Paul has volunteered to help us at rodeos and whenever we need someone to fill in." Mattingly had worked at the dealership for 15 years and was a Cannonball Haybed specialist often working the farm shows with the owners of Cannonball. Paul, a cattle farmer also raises Border collies. Many of Paul's friends came by to share cake and memories. Hundreds signed up to win prizes and the Les Jacobs Ford Mercury Grand Prize winners, Byron and Bobbie Tucker of Cassville, took home the 32" LCD HD Flat Screen TV. Wilma Hilburn of Cassville won a Detail/Clean-up from the dealership and there were three winners of Free Oil Changes: Rodney Mattingly of Exeter, Jerry Smith and Kathy Henderson of Cassville. Four winners received free car washes given away by Mike Schlichtman, owner of the Baywash Car Wash: Robert Horton of Rocky Comfort, Max L. Cornell and Ray Thomas of Cassville, and Mick Epperly of Shell Knob. Local companies with products on display included: Vollenweider Metal Works with grill guards, hitches, cannonball beds and other accessories, Lowe's Auto Glass, Barry Electric and a horse trailer owned by Jerry and Linda Vaughn. Radio broadcasting on Friday was provided by Talon broadcasting from Monett. |
